EAN-13 is the international standard used in Europe, Asia, and required by Amazon. UPC-A is the North American retail standard used in the USA and Canada. Amazon accepts both formats.
Amazon requires your barcode number to be registered with GS1 (the official barcode licensing body). This tool generates the visual barcode label once you have your GS1-issued EAN or UPC number — it does not issue GS1 numbers.
